After Caciedo, this is the second transfer in which a player chose Chelsea over the Reds
One of the biggest news in English football these days was the revelation that Liverpool had beaten Chelsea for Moises Caicedo’s signing, and would pay a record 129,000,000 euros for his services to Brighton. However, there was a big change, because the young midfielder promised the Blues that he will signed for them, and when they upped their bid to 133 million euros, he snubbed the Reds and signed for Chelsea. Since Jurgen Klopp desperately needs reinforcements in midfield due to departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabia, as well as Naby Keita to Germany, Romeo Lavia was the next target. But tonight, he snubbed them too, in favor of Chelsea!

Highly rated Southampton's midfielder, who came from Manchester City in 2022 was already subject of two bids from Liverpool during August, but both were turned down. After an unexpected defeat in Caicedo deal, Liverpool again turned their attention to the Belgian youngster, and offered enough cash to the Saints. The offer was accepted, but the player was not keen. As reported by the Athletic, Lavia decided to choose Chelsea, who are expected to reach an agreement with Southampton at a price of around 58,000,000 euros (with bonuses), which will open the door for the 19-year-old midfielder to transfer to Stamford Bridge.
The talented Belgian grew up in Anderlecht's academy, but in July 2020 he moved to Manchester City's youth system. Then, in July of last year, he moved to Southampton for 12,300,000 euros. The Saints were relegated from the Premier League, Lavia did not play in the first two matches in the second tier, and now he is on his way to strengthen the Blues' midfield together with Caicedo.
