Second half rumble! Bees stung Chelsea just enough to make it hurt

Reading Time: 3min | Sat. 13.09.25. | 23:59

Brentford and Chelsea played out a draw in the 4th round of the Premier League in an exciting match with four goals: 2–2

We saw a rollercoaster at Brentford’s stadium tonight. The home team took the lead and went into halftime with that advantage. The second half was completely different, as Chelsea came back to take the lead, but just when everyone thought the turnaround was complete, the hosts managed to equalize.

The first half between Brentford and Chelsea ended with the home side leading 1–0. Chelsea had the opening chance in the 5th minute when Joao Pedro found space in the box and fired, but his attempt was brilliantly blocked by a defender. Just a minute later, Brentford threatened through Kevin Schade, whose close-range shot was stopped by a last-ditch sliding block, forcing a corner.

Schade remained heavily involved and wasted a golden opportunity in the 7th minute, heading wide from around the penalty spot after a fine cross. Brentford eventually made their pressure count in the 35th minute: Jordan Henderson led a swift counterattack and set up Schade, who finished clinically from close range to put his team ahead. Chelsea tried to respond before the break, and Jamie Gittens created danger with a strong long-range strike in the 43rd minute, but goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher stood firm to deny him.

The second half saw Chelsea come out determined to turn the game around. In the 51st minute, Tyrique George tested Kelleher with a low shot towards the bottom corner, but the Brentford goalkeeper reacted brilliantly to push it wide. Just a few minutes later, Marc Cucurella also tried his luck from the edge of the box, but his effort lacked power and was comfortably saved.

Chelsea finally found their breakthrough in the 62nd minute. Joao Pedro smartly nodded a cross down into the path of Cole Palmer, who smashed the ball home to make it 1–1. The goal is HERE!

Brentford responded almost instantly, with Kevin Schade firing a dangerous low shot a minute later, but once again the goalkeeper was equal to it.

The visitors continued to press, and in the 75th minute Palmer had another huge chance after a slick move down the left, but Kelleher came to Brentford’s rescue once more.

Chelsea’s persistence eventually paid off in the 85th minute: following a rebound inside the home side’s box, the ball fell to Moises Caicedo, who unleashed a stunning strike from around 20 meters out to complete the turnaround. You can see the goal HERE!

Just when it seemed the match would end in Chelsea’s victory, Brentford took advantage of the chaos inside the visitors’ penalty area, with Carvalho in the right place to beat the helpless Sanchez. The goal is HERE!
