The 24-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculations even before the season ended, talks that heightened as the campaign drew its curtains.
To put the matter to bed, the Scottish outfit has now confirmed that the Kenya international will remain at the club, at least during preseason, according to his coach Jim Goodwin.
Odada endured a challenging first season in Scotland, struggling for playtime and was eventually loaned out to Serbian club OFK Beograd Mozzart Bet in February, where he spent the second half of the campaign, but he is now back with the Tannadice Outfit.
“He (Odada) is in good shape; he is back in with the group this week and we will see how it pans out,” said Goodwin as quoted by Tele Sport.
Prior to his loan move, the former AFC Leopards Youth midfielder made only 13 outings for The Terrors, and Goodwin explained the reasons for his struggles.
“Richard came in late to pre-season last year and took time to catch up. By then, the team was settled and had got off to a good start, so he struggled to get in,” he stated.
According to the coach, the 13 appearances by the former Red Star Belgrade midfielder were not enough to impress the technical bench.
“When he did play, he did not do enough to stay in, so it was frustrating for him.”
With Odada used to playing both in his previous clubs and at Harambee Stars, a loan move was his next step.
“He is someone used to playing, so he wanted to go out for game time and did well on his loan.”
Odada, who made 20 appearances during his time at OFK Beograd Mozzart Bet, will be hoping that he uses the momentum to fight for a place in Goodwin's team.
