Saudis are not giving up: 160 million for Osimhen

“Look, with Osimhen it’s something that can change every day. I think he’s been one of the most complicated players in the history of the market in the last 10 years” said Alfredo Pedulla recently. The Italian journalist was referring to the continuing saga about the Napoli striker currently in Galatasaray on loan. If we go back to August 2024, both the player and Napoli owner De Laurentiis ‘destroyed’ negotiations with Al Ahli and Chelsea so the Nigerian striker only had an option to Galatasaray. Fast forward to June 2025, we have a similar drama. After his loan with the Turkish giant ended, Osimhen returned to Italy, and only one thing is sure – he won’t play for Napoli. Everything else is a big mystery, probably even for the player himself.

First of all, Napoli has set a 75 million euros release clause for clubs outside Serie A and so far, Al Hilal, led by former Inter Milan coach Simeone Inzaghi wanted to pay that sum in full. But when the personal terms were negotiated, Osimhen rejected a 30 million euros yearly wage.

“I don’t rule out that they might try again, but I know that he has always closed the door to Saudi Arabia. Because he doesn’t like it, he doesn’t want to go. He is still young, he doesn’t want to go at 27. Knowing him, he would get tired after a week, two months and then he would return to Italy. You know, with money you can convince anyone, but at the moment it’s a no” said Pedulla back then.

Sweetness of money lured Osimhen to Arabia

And now, a new offer arrived. Corriere dello Sport reports that the Saudi club offered 40 million euros salary per season and with a three-year deal on the table (with an option of an additional 12 months), the Nigerian striker could potentially earn 160 million euros for four seasons in Saudi Arabia. There is no way that any other interested clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea or Juventus will offer anything similar, while Galatasaray reached agreement with Napoli, but failed to get an answer from Osimhen. According to reports from Fanatik, via TMW, Galatasaray have informed Osimhen’s entourage that if they are still interested in a deal, they must come to the negotiating table after the holidays. Now it’s all up to the Nigerian (again).
