Lazio want to bring the Uruguayan back to Italy

Galatasaray's midfielder Lucas Torreira is chosen by the eccentric Maurizio Sarri in the middle of the park. The Lazio coach doesn't want anyone else but the Uruguayan, and he clearly told the club at the meeting earlier this week.

Italian daily La Repubblica says the former Napoli, Chelsea and Juventus boss asked Lazio president Claudio Lotito to do his best and bring in the combative midfielder to Rome. The 27-year-old Uruguayan is one of Sarri's top picks to shine in his trademark three-man midfield. The club are keen to add some depth to the squad in order to allow them to compete on multiple fronts.

Although the name of Paris Saint-Germain's Leandro Paredes as a Lazio target, but the Argentine's salary is so big that it makes it impossible for Biancocelesti to pursue him. Paredes could still have a role to play in the story, though. Galatasaray are looking to buy him and make a statement ahead of the new Champions League campaign. In that case, getting the Turks to let Torreira leave would be much easier.

The club from the Italian capital would have to pay between $15 million and $20 million to sign the former Arsenal and Fiorentina man. The Uruguayan is believed to be keen on a return to Serie A.

Torreira's agent Pablo Bentancur told Turkish media that his client is happy in Istanbul but that Italian football has an enormous appeal. The door is open. After all, they say all roads lead to Rome.
