Gambian forward Ebrima Sanneh looking to become the club's all time top scorer following his brace over the weekend.

Nairobi City Stars forward Ebrima Sanneh is chasing some bit of history as he just three goals shy of breaking the all-time scoring record that currently stands at 35.

The forward who endured a difficult 2020 that was plagued by injury started in the FKF Cup 4-1 win over Mutomo Tigers and bagged a brace.

The two goals were enough to guide him past club legend Arthur Museve who scored 31 goals between 2007 and 2019.

Next on the sights of Sanneh is chasing the records of Justus Basweti who is the current club scorer with 35 goals and Francis Thairu who has 34 goals to his name.

The Gambian has now opened up a gap between himself and Jimmy Bageya who recently left the club after scoring 30 goals.

Speaking after scoring his brace over the weekend, Sanneh was excited after returning from injury and lauded his teammates after the win.

“I am so happy to come back (from injury) to score my first goals this season. It’s a great achievement and I am really happy and grateful,” said Sanneh

“I thank my teammates and coach because without them I couldn’t have done it. I hope to score more goals to help my team be in a good position in the league.”

His coach Sanjin Alagic was glad to have the forward back to his side after previously complaining about his toothless attack.

The brace against Tigers took the former Kariobangi Sharks forward’s tally to six goals in cup competitions after netting four goals in the 6-0 shellacking against Transfoc FC.
