San Siro meltdown: Udinese humiliate painfully pale Milan

Max Allegri's tactical gamble backfires spectacularly as ruthless visitors expose fragility, leaving even third place hanging by a thread

There are defeats, and then there are nights like this.

AC Milan were not just beaten at San Siro this Saturday - they were dismantled, exposed, and ultimately humiliated by a clinical Udinese side that punished every flaw in a brutal 3-0 display.

With the Scudetto already slipping away after defeat to Napoli, this was supposed to be about consolidation. Instead, it has become about survival, with even a top-three finish now under serious threat.

Massimiliano Allegri rolled the dice, abandoning his usual system for a 4-3-3, pushing Rafael Leao into a central role and handing opportunities to fresh legs. The result? Confusion, imbalance, and collapse.

There were early warning signs. Christian Pulisic danced through defenders only to be denied, while Leao flashed a chance over. But the fluency was an illusion.

Udinese struck first, and it came with ruthless clarity. Nicolo Zaniolo tore through Milan's midfield on the counter, releasing the ball wide before a deflected cross wrong-footed Mike Maignan. A warning ignored.

Moments later, it should have been worse. Only Maignan's reflexes and a touch of chaos kept Milan alive.

Not for long.

Zaniolo turned creator again, whipping in a precise delivery that Jurgen Ekkelenkamp nodded home between statuesque defenders. Milan were unravelling, and the San Siro knew it as jeers echoed at the break.

Allegri reacted, reshuffling, pushing bodies forward. For a brief spell, there was pressure. Luka Modric tested Maduka Okoye, who then produced a stunning save to tip a half-volley onto the bar. It felt like a lifeline, but it wasn't.

Because where Milan hesitated, Udinese killed.

Another lightning counter, another clinical finish, this time drilled low into the corner to make it 3-0. Game over.

Rafael Leao, symbolic of Milan's night, left the pitch to a chorus of whistles. For the Rossoneri, the questions are no longer about the title, but how far this fall might go.
