He recorded only 12 appearances in Eddie Howe's starting XI in the recently ended Premier League season

Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin has hinted at his possible exit on social media.

The French winger endured a difficult season on the pitch, despite the Magpies' third-place finish, struggling with form and injuries.

Saint-Maximin has now opened up on an emotionally challenging year and took to Instagram to admit he is at a 'turning point' in his career.

"This year has been one of the most difficult years emotionally, you are not able to know that as I keep personal things for myself, but I lost some really important people, and that is nothing compared to all the things that happened in my life this year, but I always tried to be present on the pitch and give everything. I am so proud of the team and that we achieved the Champions League," he wrote.

"I am now entering a turning point in my career and I will give everything until the end to achieve my dreams."

Allan Saint-Maximin has played in 25 of the 26 Premier League matches when he has been available, but only 12 of them in Eddie Howe's starting eleven, coming off the bench 13 times in his 14 occasions when named among the substitutes.

In 85 Premier League starts (and 26 PL sub appearances) at Newcastle United, he scored 12 goals and got 18 assists. This season was just the one goal but five assists.
