According to a reliable source within the Dockers’ camp, who spoke to Mozzart Sport on condition of anonymity, the Moroccan tactician made the bold move after his senior team suffered a 3-2 defeat to Bandari Youth in a friendly match played on Thursday.

The match was played barely 24 hours after settling for a goalless draw against AFC Leopards in their mid-week FKF Premier League clash on Wednesday, 15 October.

Eric Mulu, a former Mathare United and KCB winger-turned fullback, who joined Bandari at the start of the season is reportedly among the dropped players.

Mulu, who featured in the ODM@20 finals against Gor Mahia last week.

Others reportedly affected by the sweeping decision include; Yusuf Ali, a recent signing from Murang’a Seal FC, forward Mohamed Barisa who joined from Nzoia Sugar last season, and Alvin Ngoto, who returned to Bandari last term after a six-month loan spell at Mombasa Stars.

The insider revealed that the move aligns with Bandari’s internal performance and discipline policy, which stipulates that youth players who excel can be promoted to the senior team, while underperforming senior players risk demotion or release.

"According to the club’s guidelines, if a youth player earns a place in the senior squad, he’s awarded a contract with the first team. Conversely, a senior player who fails to meet performance standards or shows indiscipline can be relegated to the youth team or released altogether,” the source explained.

The decision marks Borji’s first major no-nonsense decision and his determination to instill accountability within the squad as he seeks to steady the ship.

Bandari have so far collected five points this season, with Borji picking up his first point since taking charge a fortnight ago.

It is not clear whether the demoted players will take the legal route or not.
