James Ward-Prowse is the first ever Premier League outfiled player to play every single minute for two seasons running
In modern-day football, injuries are a common thing. Tiredness too. There are plenty of reasons to miss a couple of games, maybe some part of the season, or - in the case of Virgil Van Dijk, for example - almost the entire campaign. So, the fact that Southampton's defensive midfielder James Ward-Prowse played every single minute of every single game in the last two seasons is quite an achievement.
As a matter of fact, up to this day, he is the only Premier League outfield player (so keepers not included) to reach this goal. It is a 76-matches-long streak. He was never subbed, never tired.
This guy is so dedicated to his team that he even doesn't get red cards or those punishable bookings in a row.
Originally a member of Southampton's youth system, Ward-Prowse made his first-team debut for the club in October 2011, and signed his first professional contract in May 2012. He became a regular for Southampton, and was appointed as captain in June 2020. In January 2021, he played his 300th game for the club.
He has represented England at under-17, under-19 and under-20 levels and earned 31 caps and scored 6 goals at under-21 level, also serving as captain. He made his senior international debut in March 2017 in a 1-0 away defeat to then World champions Germany. On 25 March 2021, he scored his first international goal in a 5-0 win over San Marino.
