Xabi Alonso is facing an injury crisis ahead of Sociedad game

Xabi Alonso could be satisfied that his internationals returned to the club healthy, but the last training session before the trip to San Sebastian revealed shocking news – Antonio Rudiger will have to miss three months due to a quadriceps muscle injury! As Real Madrid announced in an official statement, Rudiger complained of pain in his quadriceps muscle during training, after which he immediately went for tests, where a rectus femoris injury in his left leg was diagnosed.

Madrid dailies Marca and AS report that Rudiger started the session normally but then felt discomfort right at the end. Because of that, the doctors reacted preventively, but the tests revealed a serious problem. For this reason, the German defender was not included in the squad list for San Sebastian and will be unable to help his teammates for quite a long period. Initial estimates are that, in the best-case scenario, his absence will last 10 weeks, possibly over 12. In the worst case, his calendar year might already be over, although such predictions aren’t being made just yet.

The German center-back is now facing serious injury problems. Last season he missed 12 matches, all within this calendar year, and after muscle issues he also had serious meniscus problems that ended his season early. Injuries have also been reported for Ferland Mendy and Eduardo Camavinga, while Jude Bellingham has been struggling with a shoulder issue for some time. Endrick has also had problems with his quadriceps.
