Fernandes and Lingard also scored to make it 4-1 against the Magpies

When he left Manchester for Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo had a great record against Newcastle United - six goals and five assists in 11 matches. Today, Ronaldo made a glorious comeback and scored two more against Magpies to secure a confortable 4-1 win. Ronaldo scored the first two goals for the United, before Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard finished off the woeful Magpies, whose defensive display is a sure sign they are bound for the relegation battle until the end.

Ronaldo play a good, but not a brilliant game. He didn’t needed to be any better, as Newcastle were not a mach for this United team. The Portuguese used a terrible mistake from a third Newcastle goalkeeper to make it 1-0, before making a solo action with a beautiful finish to make it 2-1, after he was completely unmarked by horrible Magpies defense. The same back 5 allowed two more goals in the same manner, when they failed to block or in any other way stop the United players, allowing them total freedom to deliver the finishing touch.

It stated with United keeping it tight at the back, not allowing Ronaldo a lot of space to roam, and truth to be told, the Magpies had better chances than the hosts during the first half, even thou they came without their best striker Callum Wilson and midfielder creator Jojo Shelvey. If at least Wilson played, it could have been 2-0 for the visitors easily. Alan Saint-Maximin has been just brilliant, causing havoc among United defenders with his dribbles and pace, and that is certainly a thing for coach Solskajer to worry about.

And it was actually Newcastle’s third choice goalkeeper Woodman (the first two are injured) which had a bad reaction after one shot, allowing Ronaldo to tap in from 3 meters away for 1-0, just before half time. But Newcastle managed to sneak one in, after a good counter attack, and former Liverpool full back Manquillo managed to do what others missed before him. Still, the Magpies defense again showed it’s ugly had, allowing Ronaldo to run for 30 meters unmarked and shoot freely between Woodman’s legs for another lead. And then again, Newcastle’s defense left Bruno Fernandes totally unmarked, and the Portuguese used this to score with a beautiful volley for 3-1. Substitute Lingard only confirmed a firm 4-1 victory, but the real test for Manchester will be against stronger teams, which will not allow easy goals.
