The Portuguese forward won't travel with the squad for the Chelsea game
It was bound to happen sooner than later – Cristiano Ronaldo is at full war with Erik Ten Hag. Once the best footballer in the world has been axed from the squad which will face Chelsea on Saturday, and the reason was revealed by Daily Mail tonight – he refused to come into the game as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur. The Portuguese forward was a substitute as Marcus Rashford started the game, and coach Ten Hag decided to bring on Christian Eriksen and Anthony Elanga in the 87th minute. That was the last straw for Ronaldo, who just went into the tunnel without turning back, and left Old Trafford before the game was over.

Ronaldo’s omission from the squad was made official by short news on Manchester’s website today.
“Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s Premier League game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture” reads the statement.
After the great performance on Wednesday and a clear and deserved win over Tottenham, coach Ten Hag had to answer questions about Ronaldo’s actions.
"He was there, I have seen him, but I didn't speak with him. I don't pay attention to that, I will deal with that tomorrow. I want to keep the focus on the team” said the Dutchman and he was true to his word, he dealt with the Portuguese today.
The situation is at the breaking point today. Good results in recent weeks will now go into the shadows of an unwanted conflict between the Dutchman and Manchester's icon. Ronaldo will be more eager to leave in January and Ten Hag will be willing to let him go. But who can afford Ronaldo in Europe right now? And who would want to deal with such a character? Who will take a player who can just snap if he is not playing and leave the stadium? More questions than answers right now...
