The first Ukrainian in the club's history signed a deal until 2029 with the Serie A side

Roma won the "transfer battle" with Atletico Madrid and today officially presented the award - Artem Dovbyk. Ever since Alvaro Morata moved to AC Milan, Los Colchoneros wanted the Ukrainian, and when the deal seemed agreed, last season's La Liga top scorer chose Rome over Madrid.

The compensation is uncertain and varies from source to source, but most claim the following: Girona got 30.5 million euros, plus 5.5 worth of add-ons related to the number of matches, goals, and trophies. Subsequently, the Spanish side will get 10% of the next sale, while the player will earn 3 million euros annually in Rome.

Dovbyk became the first Ukrainian in Roma's history and will face a challenging task of replacing Romelu Lukaku, whose loan from Chelsea expired and who is supposed to join Napoli in the upcoming days. This way, Girona lost the third significant player from the previous season since Aleix Garcia moved to Bayer Leverkusen for 18 million euros, while the Brazilian Savinho was returned to Man City, which loaned him to Girona in the first place.

In total, the Spaniards earned more than 50 million euros and can deal with finding reinforcements for the Champions League debut. So far, Girona have brought in Abel Ruiz from Braga, Ladislav Krejci from Slavia Prague, Alejandro Frances from Zaragoza, and Donny van de Beek from Man United.
