Imagine signing for your dream club and winning a trophy on your debut!

That is the dream that new Tusker FC signing Rodgers Ouma is currently living. On his maiden appearance with his new side, the highly-rated youngster tasted his first cup success in the top flight league after Tusker won the 2021 Football Kenya Federation Super Cup after ousting Gor Mahia 8-7 on post-match penalties following a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Growing up as a kid in the streets of Kisumu, Rodgers’ admitted in an earlier interview on Mozzart Sport that his dream was always to don the black and yellow stripes of Tusker.

“Ever since I was young, my dream has always been to join and play for Tusker. That has always been the case since I was in my childhood and the hope is that one day I will probably get to play for them at some point,” he said.

After suffering relegation with Western Stima, the player finally got his dream move on Thursday 16 September when Robert Matano snapped him up ahead of the 2020/2021 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season. Barely seven days after his official unveiling, the midfielder lifted his first trophy with his new side.

“This is beyond imagination for me. I am extremely elated to win my first trophy in my first match with my dream club. I also made the starting eleven in such a crucial cup game and I am totally happy. I think this is a great start to my journey with Tusker and I have my work cut out for me now. I will need to continue putting in more effort and working extra hard if I am to maintain my place in this competitive team,” the player told Mozzart Sport.

Tusker will kickstart their 20201/2022 season with a trip against AFC Leopards in their opening fixture on Sunday.
