They beat Yanga 3-1 on post match penalties after playing to a barren draw in regular time.

Simba SC Brazilian tactician Roberto Oliviera 'Robertinho' is elated after clinching his first silverware with the Tanzanian giants.

After playing to a barren draw in regular time, Simba beat arch-rivals Yanga SC 3-1 on post-match penalties to clinch the Community Shield on Sunday evening.

Former Gor Mahia midfielder Khalid Aucho saw his penalty saved by Simba's custodian Ally Salim alongside the spot kicks by Pacome Zouzou and Yao Attousi.

Robertinho won titles in both Rwanda and Uganda during his different stints with teams in those countries but was yet to lay his hands on something in Tanzania.

Following the victory, the coach believes that the title will help Simba visualize the upcoming season as they seek to dethrone Yanga.

"I'm happy to win my first title here, it's a big thing that gives us a vision for the new competition season. I have won three titles while in Rwanda and three while in Uganda, but here in Tanzania, this is my first. I congratulate the players, the technical bench, and the leaders for achieving this. I congratulate our fans, they love their team very much. They always show up in large numbers on the field whenever the team is there, this increases the enthusiasm of the players," Robertinho as quoted on the club's website.

His focus as well as that of the club will be on the league title they last won in 2021 before Yanga took over in the last two seasons.

The Brazilian joined Simba in January this year just days after parting ways with Ugandan giants Vipers whom he guided to the first-ever CAF Champions League Group Stage qualification the previous season,
