Scottish Premiership side Dundee United have confirmed that their new signing Richard Odada has received a Harambee Stars call-up for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Dundee United, who secured the signature of Odada in July, confirmed the news on their official website, meaning that he becomes the first official name to make the cut in Engin Firat’s squad set to play two matches in the September international window.

“Despite being the youngest United player to jet off on national duty next month, Odada is the most experienced at international level, already boasting 17 Kenya caps aged just 23,” Dundee United wrote on their website while also announcing the call up of three other players on respective international duty.

Kenya begins action against Zimbabwe on Wednesday 4 September in a home match set to be played at Namboole Stadium in Uganda, before travelling to South Africa for their clash against Namibia on Tuesday 10 September.

Odada, a notable figure in Harambee Stars matches, has been named in Kenya's starting 11 in the last 11 consecutive matches, clocking over 1,000 minutes of action under his belt in the process.

His last appearance for the national team was in June when he played 90 minutes of a 1-1 draw with African champions Ivory Coast in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Odada is yet to get a start for Dundee United, coming off the bench thrice in four matches he has so far been involved in.

Meanwhile, there has not been a date set for the formal announcement of the rest of the Harambee Stars squad.
