The Three Lions win against Croatia (1-0), three years after a dreadful defeat to the same opponent in the 2018 FIFA World Cup

It's coming home, they say. English fans are united in hopes of the first significant football success after 1966, and the maiden triumph against Croatia (1-0) at the EURO 2020 will definitely pour some more optimism in their veins.

Croatia, the old Three Lions' tormentor, were not good enough this time, failing to create a single goal-scoring opportunity during the 90 minutes at Wembley.

The only goal of the match came 57 minutes into the game and as a result of a beautiful team effort. Kalvin Phillips found unmarked Raheem Sterling on the edge of the box, while Manchester City's forward reacted promptly to break the deadlock.

Unlike the 2018 FIFA World Cup semifinals, Luka Modric and co. couldn't find their game, losing the ball almost instantly as soon as they would get a hold on it. Harry Kane was close to killing the game twenty minutes before the end, but the ball went slightly off the target following Mount's sharp cross.

Awkwardly enough, this is the first time England have won their premier at Euros, and the 1/8 finals are already around the corner for Gareth Southgate's squad. Euphoria is on!
