Reunion from Old Trafford could happen in Rome

Romelu Lukaku is now contemplating a move to Roma

Third time lucky. It is Italia, but it’s not Inter, and it’s not Juventus. But there is another big team that needs a striker, and they could land Romelu Lukaku – Roma. Jose Mourinho has been craving for a proper striker ever since Tammy Abraham suffered a season-ending injury, and less than a week ago, before the transfer window shuts until January, the search is still on. Just yesterday, Duvan Zapata from Atalanta was the ’chosen one’, but the deal seems to have stalled, and apparently, Gialorossi decided to give the club 48 hours to decide if they wanna give the striker or not.

As for Lukaku, he surfaced as an option from the moment Atalanta decided to stall with Zapata. In the meantime, all deals with Inter and Juventus failed, and the Belgian international is desperate to move from Chelsea. He still hasn’t talked to coach Mauricio Pochettino and is training with the U21 team. Chelsea set up the price tag of 40 million or a loan with an obligation to buy. Nobody wants to touch Lukaku at this price, and Roma is notorious for not having any money and only buying free agents or loan players. So, Mourinho’s team decided to bid for Lukaku, but with only a regular loan, without the obligation to buy. On the other hand, they would be willing to pay the player’s wage in full in an attempt to strike a deal. With six days left in the transfer window, the Blues are also in a tight window, and they need to get rid of Lukaku somehow.

It should be remembered that Chelsea's desire was to sell Lukaku to Al Hilal; however, during that period, he was negotiating with Inter and, in every possible way, sabotaged his departure to Saudi Arabia, according to the Telegraph. Inter's offers did not exceed 30,000,000 euros, and Chelsea flatly rejected them, after which Juventus joined the story before pulling out. Renewing interest from the Middle East is mentioned as the last option; the transfer window in Arabia lasts until September 20, but so far, the Belgian refused all offers from that part of the world.
