The list of potential replacements for the Pole has long been drawn up, but now there is already talk of specific clubs that would gladly buy Lewandowski

How much longer will Robert Lewandowski wear the colors of FC Barcelona? One European giant is ramping up its efforts to lure the veteran striker – and could act sooner than anyone expected.

What’s clear is that the Polish star’s current deal runs out at the end of the season. Barcelona technically hold an option to extend it by another year, but that scenario looks increasingly unlikely. The Catalan side has already started to plan for life after Lewandowski, exploring options to find a capable successor. Meanwhile, interest in the 36-year-old remains strong across Europe – and AC Milan appear to be leading the chase.

The Rossoneri have been monitoring him for months. Initial reports suggested they’d make a push in the summer, but according to SportItalia, Milan could accelerate their plans and make a move in the January window. Financially, it would also make sense for Barcelona: a winter sale would at least bring in a fee, while losing him for free next summer would deepen their financial struggles.

From Milan’s side, the idea fits a familiar pattern. They’ve recently enjoyed success bringing in experienced stars. Luka Modric, now 40, joined from Real Madrid after his contract expired – and his leadership and quality have revitalized the team’s midfield. Milan remain firmly in the Serie A title race, but their front line still lacks firepower. Adding Lewandowski could be the missing piece.

According to the Spanish outlet "Sport," the striker is not rushing into any decisions. He hopes Barcelona will offer him a new deal and would even consider a pay cut to stay in Spain. His preference is clear – to continue playing at the highest level in La Liga, not to head for Saudi Arabia or MLS.

Whether Milan can change his mind remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: the race for Lewandowski’s future is heating up fast.
