Goalkeeper Levis Opiyo, who is now a free agent after his one year contract at AFC Leopards came to an end, has reiterated his desire to continue playing for the 12 time Kenyan champions despite being targeted by two other clubs ahead of the new 2022/2023 campaign.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport about where he will be plying his trade in the new season scheduled to kick off on 27 August, Opiyo revealed a desire to ink a new deal at the club should he come to an agreement with the club’s management.

AFC Leopards set to complete signings before the transfer window closes.

“My second six month deal at the club expired so I am now a free agent. We have however had talks with the club about a new deal and I can say it is still a work in progress as we are yet to finalize on terms. I am willing to continue my time here provided we both come into an agreement with the contract,” the player said.

Ahead of the new campaign, Opiyo, who has previously played for record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia and Wazito before landing at the den has attracted interested from former employees Nairobi City Stars and Bidco United who lost first choice keeper Brian Opondo to reigning champions Tusker.

“It is true I have some offers at the moment with the transfer window currently open. I had one offer outside the country as well. We however had a commitment with AFC Leopards which I will honour when they clear the arrears that the club currently owes me,” Opiyo added.
