Only Nzoia Sugar, Tusker and Wazito have unbeaten records at home.

Nzoia Sugar FC have been impeccable in their own backyard, going unbeaten thus far this season with head coach Ibrahim Shikanda opening up on the secret.

Of the 16 matches Nzoia have played this season in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL), the Millers have won four and drawn the rest.

Their away form paints a contrasting picture, playing eight and failing to win a single game while picking up three draws.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Shikanda blamed the poor away performances on schoolboy errors adding that the boys are eager to impress the management at home.

“Silly mistakes and lapses in concentration costs us in away games another factor for our impressive home form is the presence of the team’s and company management in home games,”

“The boys always want to impress the management and the few fans who turn out to the stadium after Covid-19 restricted the numbers. The players also understand the pitch well,” said Shikanda.

Nzoia are one of only three sides in the league that are yet to suffer a home defeat including Wazito and Tusker who have made their own turf a fortress. The former Kenyan international also added that the winning bonuses motivate the boys to register impressive results at home.

“The good thing is that the sugar company is being revived and the bonuses are usually a motivating factor so that also pushes the boys to perform well. Even though the bonuses are not that much it helps the players get something at the end of the day,” added Shikanda.
