Los Blancos might earn some money for only one of those players
There are still a few months left until the transfer window, but the biggest clubs like to get their business done early and then prepare calmly for the new season. However, this June might not be so quiet for Real Madrid, as media reports suggest that as many as six players could leave the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The Royal Club has had a turbulent season under Xabi Alonso, and with the team four points behind FC Barcelona and already eliminated from the Copa del Rey, there are doubts about whether Alvaro Arbeloa will keep his job beyond the end of the season—although his optimism surely grew after the 3–0 win over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League. Regardless of what happens, changes are expected. Whether it will be exactly six players remains to be seen, but several names are reportedly close to the exit.
Among them is David Alaba, now 33, struggling with recurring injuries, and with his contract expiring this June—no extension is planned. A very similar situation applies to another 33-year-old, Antonio Rudiger. The German has been more of a regular, but is also frequently injured and out of contract at the end of the season. He has played more in recent weeks, so there is still a chance he stays. If not, he is expected to easily find a new club, with interest from England—German outlet Bild reports that Chelsea F.C. would be keen to bring him back.
Perhaps the biggest uncertainty surrounds Dani Carvajal, now 34, a lifelong Real Madrid player and an important figure in the dressing room, but also heavily worn down physically. Over the past two seasons, he has not even reached a combined total of 30 matches. According to The Athletic, there are “strong indications” that he too may not be offered a new contract, though a final decision is still pending. There is no longer any doubt about Ferland Mendy—his physical condition has long been an issue, and he has no future at the Bernabeu. The same applies—though for different reasons—to Fran García, who simply has not shown the level required at Real Madrid. A move elsewhere would likely be best for him, and the club could at least earn a transfer fee.
The biggest potential sale could come from the most surprising name on the list: Eduardo Camavinga. Although, given his recent performances, it may not be such a surprise. He was expected to become one of the most dominant players in the world in his position, but at 23 he has not fully reached that level yet. That said, he is far from a poor player, which is why he would only be sold if an offer exceeding his estimated value (at least 50 million euros) arrives, most likely from England.
