Real late nutcracking as the Royals count from 0 to 3 in the last half an hour against Alaves

La Liga leaders were facing a goalless home draw which would cause an earthquake. Thankfully for them, the tables turned after the 60th-minute mark

If there's a single man out there who deserves all the hail for his achievements this season, then it's definitely Karim Benzema of Real Madrid who continues to push his side to the La Liga title.

The veteran striker netted once from the spot, and added two more assists in the rather unorthodox 3-0 home win against Alaves on Saturday night.

Its weirdness comes from the fact the game was in stalemate for as long as 60 minutes before the Royals pressed the 'fast forward' button and ran for the victory. Ancelotti's slot has been struggling a lot lately, and another upset could have had terrible consequences on the squad.

Anyhow, Los Blancos escaped the death row in the last half an hour after Asensio, Vinicius Jr. and Benzema himself made sure things changed for good.

The latter's performances are worth applause. He deserves to be Real Madrid's captain not just for his long-lasting tenure at Santiago Bernabeu stadium but mainly for the contribution that has been immaculate in the last couple of seasons. Without Benzema, the Spaniards would be deprived of any hope when it comes to the home title chase and Champions League adventure.
