Arminia Bielefeld is the latest team to make the Red Bulls suffer

Red Bull Arena saw another setback for their Red Bulls. A 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bielefeld is another bitter pill to swallow for the miserable RB Leipzig. In short, they lost their wings.

Despite sitting in the Bundesliga relegation zone, Arminia boasted the best defensive record in the bottom half, conceding just two more goals than Leipzig. This solidity was on display in a turgid first half that saw the hosts fail to register a single shot on target before HT. An early injury to Emil Forsberg elevated Dominik Szoboszlai to creator-in-chief, and the Hungarian supplied the best chance of the half. His curling cross was met by Christopher Nkunku, but he couldn’t keep his header down.

There was no change to the pattern of play after the restart, and the visitors took full advantage by taking the lead on the counterattack. Florian Kruger picked out Wimmer, but his close-range effort was well saved by Peter Gulacsi. To the goalkeeper's misfortune, his save landed at the feet of Janni-Luca Serra, who pounced to score his first-ever goal in the Bundesliga.

Leipzig were hunting for an equaliser against ten men after Fabian Klos has been sent off for a bad foul, but it was the visitors who beat the odds again to score. Amadou Haidara gave the ball away in his own third, and Okugawa struck to seal the three points for the underdogs.

Elsewhere in Germany, Monchengladbach managed to end their four-game losing streak but were still left bitterly disappointed. They looked on course for three points at Hoffenheim thanks to a Breel Embolo strike but were denied in injury time after Kevin Akpoguma salvaged a point for the home side.
