Borussia will match the Parisians' offer of 15 million euros, which Lyon has already accepted, and the talented playmaker will, in that case, choose the club where he will immediately get a significant role

When Paris Saint-Germain like a Ligue 1 player, they usually have no problem bringing him. Bradley Barcola, Hugo Ekitike, and Renato Sanches could all be taken as the most recent examples. However, this time, the French champions will, as things stand, lose the battle in the market. Although they have a deal with both Rayan Cherki and his current club, Olympique Lyon, there is a high chance that the talented offensive player will soon become a Borussia Dortmund player.

Namely, although Lyon accepted the offer worth 15 million euros plus additional bonuses from Paris Saint-Germain, and although Cherki was personally persuaded to come to Paris by Luís Campos, the Dortmund side will offer Lyon identical conditions as the Parisians and the player will, according to L'Équipe, opt for Borussia as a far more favourable environment for the development of his career.

The former member of Lyon's renowned football academy did not want to extend his contract, which expires next June, because the club's offer included a reduced salary. On the other hand, Borussia will not be able to match Paris Saint-Germain's offer in terms of salary, but Cherki is ready to accept a lower wage than the one he would have in the City of Lights because he expects to have a more significant role in Germany.

Although he is only 20 years old, the French of Algerian descent has been on the professional scene for a long time. He made his debut for Lyon in October 2019 as a 16-year-old, and since then he has played 141 games, recording 17 goals and 25 assists. Being an attacking midfielder and occasionally a winger, Cherki is supposed to try to replace Marco Reus at Signal Iduna Park.

On the other hand, Lyon had already found a replacement for the youngster. Namely, after a loan worth 6 million euros, the club now bought Saïd Benrahma from West Ham for an additional sum of 14.4 million. Therefore, one BVB's transfer has been almost confirmed, while the other one - Serhou Guirassy's arrival from Stuttgart - is set to take place in the days to come.
