That awful tackle wasn't awarded at least a yellow card, let alone a red. The Saints celebrate a crucial 4-2 win

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma suffered a horrible facial injury in the first half of his team's Ligue 1 4-2 away win at Monaco on Wednesday night. The Italian keeper was forced off after being struck in the face by Monaco's Wilfried Singo's boot.

Donnarumma immediately received medical help on the pitch and was subbed off, replaced by Matvei Safonov.

Interestingly, Singo, booked earlier in the first half - wasn't awarded at least a (second) yellow card, let alone directly sent off, for this horrendous challenge.

Donnarumma was later pictured with a significantly bloodied face and with several stitches.

A PSG statement at half-time read: "Sending our best wishes to Gigio, who suffered a serious facial injury and had to leave the match in the first half."

Monaco came from behind before two late goals from Goncalo Ramos and Ousmane Dembele secured a crucial 4-2 victory for PSG, which extended their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to ten points.
