Professor of losing points in the final seconds of match – Olympique Marseille

Once again, Olympique was left without points in the final minute, this time by Strasbourg, for a 2–2 draw

Exactly 15 days have passed since Olympique Marseille played their match against Paris. Back then, De Zerbi’s side held a two-goal lead, only to lose it in a short time, with the second goal conceded from a penalty in stoppage time. Today, the situation is the same, only the opponent is different.

Marseille took the lead in an entertaining first half against Strasbourg, but both sides had their moments. The visitors threatened early, as Martial Godo rose to meet a cross in the 5th minute and headed toward the bottom left corner, but Geronimo Rulli showed excellent reflexes to make a superb save.

Mason Greenwood was lively from the start, first wasting a decent chance in the 13th minute when he drove into the box but dragged his shot wide. Just a minute later, however, he made no mistake. Amine Gouiri delivered a ball into the area, and Greenwood spotted goalkeeper Mike Penders off his line, lifting a beautiful lob over him to give Marseille a 1–0 lead.

Strasbourg tried to respond through set pieces, with Lucas Hogsberg heading well over the bar from close range in the 27th minute. Marseille remained dangerous, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang forced Penders into a strong low save in the 38th minute.

The visitors continued to test Rulli, as Diego Moreira struck a dangerous free kick toward the bottom corner in the 43rd minute, but the Marseille goalkeeper once again produced a brilliant stop. Greenwood had another chance in stoppage time after beating two defenders and firing from around the penalty spot, but his shot was too central and easily saved.

Marseille came out strongly after the break and doubled their lead almost immediately. In the 47th minute, Amine Gouiri produced a brilliant solo run into the box and finished confidently into the bottom right corner, leaving Mike Penders with no chance and making it 2–0.

The hosts could have extended their advantage shortly after, when Quinten Timber met a cross inside the penalty area in the 50th minute, but he failed to keep his effort on target and fired wide.

Strasbourg tried to respond and pulled one back in the 74th minute. Martial Godo played the ball through to Sebastian Nanasi, whose shot took a deflection and wrong-footed Geronimo Rulli, giving the visitors hope at 2–1.

Just two minutes later, Strasbourg nearly found an equaliser. Guela Doue rose high to meet a cross from close range, but Rulli produced an excellent save to deny the header and preserve Marseille’s lead.

In the 94th minute, Emerson overstepped in a challenge for the ball. Referee Francois Letexier spotted the foul and immediately blew the whistle. After consulting with his assistant, who had a clearer view, Strasbourg was awarded a penalty. Joaquin Panichelli stepped up to take it and executed a precise spot-kick, giving the goalkeeper no chance.
