Price of a title race: Arsenal send a gem on loan?

Reading Time: 2min | Sat. 27.12.25. | 14:57

Although considered one of the club's biggest talents, Ethan Nwaneri could pay the price of the Gunners' high ambitions and spend the rest of the season away from the Emirates Stadium

When Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri appeared in Arsenal's first team, the public in England was amazed by the talent of the Gunners' gems. At one point, the duo had a decent playing time considering their young age, but the start of the new campaign changed everything.

Arsenal signed some high-class players and seriously entered the title race, leaving little room for the youngsters to adapt.

And while Lewis-Skelly regularly comes off the bench, Nwaneri is somewhat forgotten and most often overlooked by Mikel Arteta.

This season, the winger made just 11 appearances - six in the Premier League, three in the Champions League, and two in the EFL Cup, in which he scored his only goal in the campaign - and started just three games, none in the EPL. He clocked just about 40 minutes per game, and so, a possible loan deal has emerged as a win-win solution.

On the one hand, the North London side does not want to sell him, as they might have made a mistake with Ayden Heaven, whom they sold to Man United for only €1.8 million last January, and the 19-year-old became Ruben Amorim's valuable asset, winning the Man of the Match award the previous night in a 1-0 win against Newcastle.

On the other hand, Nwaneri would get beneficial playing time and vital experience. At the moment, several Premier League and Bundesliga sides are mentioned as candidates for the 18-year-old's next destination - Bournemouth and Borussia Dortmund, to be precise - but it's still early to tell where he might end up.

In the meantime, until the matter of his future is resolved, Nwaneri remains at his boyhood club, which today faces Brighton at Emirates (18.00). At the same time, the youngster will probably be benched again and hope to get a chance to (perhaps) say goodbye - at least temporarily - to the home crowd.
