The Kenya Postal Corporation-backed side has endured a torrid spell since the turn of the year

Posta Rangers captain Musa Mohamed has candidly attributed his side’s prolonged winless run to recurring lapses in concentration, admitting the team has repeatedly allowed promising positions to slip away in recent matches.

The Mailmen were once again left frustrated after surrendering a late lead to settle for a 1–1 draw against Gor Mahia in their latest FKF Premier League encounter staged on Thursday, 5 March at Nyayo National Stadium.

Former Tusker midfielder Jackson Macharia had handed Rangers the advantage early in the first half, putting the visitors on course for what would have been a crucial victory against the record Kenyan champions.

However, Gor Mahia staged a late comeback deep into stoppage time, with second-half substitute Ebenezer Assifuah rescuing a point for the hosts.

The Ghanaian striker connected brilliantly with a pinpoint delivery from compatriot Enock Morrison to slot home the equaliser and deny Rangers a long-awaited win.

The result further underlined Posta Rangers’ recent struggles, marking yet another match in which the seasoned top-flight side conceded while leading.

The outcome extended their difficult run, with the club now enduring an 11-match winless streak.

Reflecting on the team’s struggles, the ex Police skipper admitted that the side’s inability to maintain focus during critical moments has cost them valuable points.

“We have been having problems with lack of concentration which has seen us lose points from winning positions. It is something we need to address moving forward so that we can be able to bag maximum points,” said the former Kenya Police FC captain.

Despite the disappointment of letting another lead slip, the five-time league winner acknowledged that earning a point against Gor Mahia still provided a measure of encouragement for a team searching for form.

We are thankful for the point against Gor Mahia because they are a strong side. The point is a motivation considering the poor run we have had in the league in the recent matches. Hopefully this marks the turning point in our campaign,” he added.

The Kenya Postal Corporation-backed side has endured a torrid spell since the turn of the year, failing to register a single league victory during that period.

Although the draw did little to significantly improve their standing in the 18-team table, it lifted Rangers to 25 points, leaving them six points above the relegation zone.

With attention shifting to Mozzart Bet Cup this weekend, where Rangers are not involved, the Charles Omondi-coached side will next return to league action against Kariobangi Sharks as they seek to finally end their winless run and secure their first victory of the year.
