The bold move comes as the team gears up for their second attempt at CAF Women's Champions League qualification

Kenya Police Bullets FC have commenced a major squad overhaul ahead of the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers by releasing seven players, including national team stars, as they aim to mount a stronger continental campaign.

The FKF Women’s Premier League (WPL) champions confirmed the departures through an official communication on their Facebook page, thanking the players for their service and wishing them success in their future endeavours.

Leading the list of exits is Kenya U-20 captain Jane Hato, who leaves the club after securing a scholarship to study in the United States.

Hato, who featured at the 2023 Homeless World Cup, will pursue a sports management programme overseas, marking a significant personal milestone.

Also departing is Harambee Starlets forward Mercy Njeri, who played a pivotal role in the club’s title-winning season.

Njeri scored the opening goal in their decisive 3-0 victory over Bunyore Starlets on June 26—sealing Bullets’ first-ever FKF-WPL crown.

"We say goodbye to seven players as they part ways with the club. Thank you for your service, dedication, and memories shared. Wishing you all the best in your next chapter,” the club stated.

The reshuffle also sees the exit of former Ulinzi Starlets attacker Lindah Kihara, ex-Moving The Goal Post United midfielder Mercy Masika, former Nation FC playmaker Yasmin Khalid, as well as Lavender Okeyo and Stellah Oduor, who complete the list of outgoing players.

This bold move comes as Kenya Police Bullets gear up for their second attempt at CAF Women's Champions League qualification via the CECAFA regional qualifiers, set to take place in Tanzania.

The club is determined to emulate Vihiga Queens, the only Kenyan side to have qualified for the continental showpiece, achieving the feat in the tournament’s inaugural edition in 2021.

Last year, the Bullets fell agonisingly short, losing 1-0 to Ethiopian champions Central Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in a closely fought final.

The loss denied them a maiden continental ticket, a gap they are now keen to bridge with a revamped and competitive squad.
