Pirlo: Super League is 'project for the future'

Juventus coach said president Agnelli informed him and the players about the newly competition
As one of the ’Founding Fathers’ of the new Super League, Juventus have pulled the wrath of the Italian (and world) public on themselves. But it was not the president Andrea Agnelli who addressed the public, but rather head coach Andrea Pirlo, who had to talk to the press before the Serie A match with Parma.
Juve coach was, of course, asked about the newly formed Super League, and Pirlo tried to downplay the importance of the new competition, calling it „a project for the future“, and tried to go back to football topics.
“It's a development for the world of football. There have been many changes over these years, from the Champions League to the way of playing and the rules. We are focused, the present for us is the qualification for the Champions League. The President spoke to the team about this project today. We know he is the first row for this thing, but I am not the most suitable person to talk about it. There is the President in the first row who is organising it. This morning, Agnelli explained to us what the project is about, but he didn’t go into details. He told us that the most important thing is to focus on the present. Agnelli has always been very close to the team, I speak to him after every game.” Pirlo said at a press conference prior to Parma match.
Juve’s nine year reign is about to end this season, as Inter is all but secured the Serie a title, while current champions are battling for the Champions League spot. After a defeat from Atalanta, Juve is only two points ahead of fifth-place Napoli and their game with Parma is all they should think about, says Pirlo.
“The players must remain calm, it’s just a project, and football goes ahead. The team is feeling quite well. We are recovering from Sunday’s game. I am planning a few changes, but I am not going to rotate the team much. We are only focused on the game against Parma. We know we are not going through a great moment, but we must have the best possible approach. Ronaldo and Buffon will play, and I think Dybala too“ said Pirlo.
