The Egyptian posted a heart-warming farewell video message on his social media, announcing he'll leave the Reds after nine years
Yes, we know it most often sounds shabby, but in this case, these are the best and most appropriate words one can come up with: The end of an era.
At the end of the 2025/2026 season, Mohamed Salah will officially leave Liverpool. The Egyptian announced his departure with a heart-warming farewell video message posted on his social media.
“Hello, everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season,” Mo said at the beginning of his announcement.
He went on to point out how special a club Liverpool is and to thank everyone who was there for him throughout his journey at Anfield, especially his teammates and fans, while the video showed his most memorable moments in the beloved jersey.

Salah joined the Reds in July 2017 from Roma for €42 million. He arrived as a talented player, but someone who initially didn’t make it in the Premier League, bearing a dark mark from his unsuccessful stint with Chelsea.
It’s hard to say if anyone expected it, but in nine years at Anfield, he became one of the best players in the world, one of the greatest players Africa has ever had, and a club legend. And calling oneself a Liverpool legend is one of the highest honours in football.
With the Reds, Salah won every possible trophy: two Premier Leagues, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, the Community Shield, the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, and, of course, the 2018/2019 Champions League.
But most importantly, he won the Scousers’ hearts.
Liverpool fans will fondly and with love remember his goals - and there was a bunch of them - his celebrations, and the blood, sweat, and tears he gave for the red jersey on each occasion.
In situations like this, numbers are irrelevant, but Salah’s are worth mentioning: 435 appearances, 255 goals, and 122 assists. And counting… He’s still there until the end of the season.
His previous season will be recalled as the most memorable one and one of the most ruthless of any Liverpool player in the club’s history. With 34 goals and 23 assists in 52 games, he carried the team to the Premier League title, and the fans will never forget it.
And even though this season was below his usual level, and despite all the minor quarrels he had with the management, Salah will be remembered only for the good things.
He deserved it.
