Pharaoh leads Reds towards the title! Mighty Salah eats Cherries for a vital away win

Reading Time: 3min | Sat. 01.02.25. | 20:00

Even though Liverpool weren't at their usual level, Salah netted a brace for the triumph, while Bournemouth caused troubles but weren't lucky enough to avoid defeat, as they hit the woodwork twice - 2-0

Liverpool are 14/14 when they take the lead first in the game! Many Premier League giants fell at Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth - Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham. But Arne Slot's crew is ready to grab the title, and it seems that no one can stop them!

Bournemouth were, if not better, then at least more concrete than the visitors. The Cherries hit the woodwork twice, over Antoine Semenyo and Marcus Tavernier, while Justin Kluivert missed the empty net. Conversely, even though they were nowhere near their highest level, Liverpool used their chances and, thanks to unstoppable Mohamed Salah, who netted another brace, noted a vital triumph on the road - 2-0

The first half of the game at Vitality Stadium proved that football sometimes isn't fair. Bournemouth were better during the initial 45 minutes, threatening twice in the opening 15 minutes over Antoine Semenyo and Justin Kluivert, while the Ghanaian even hit the post in the 21st minute.

Liverpool tested Kepa Arrizabalaga for the first time only after 23 minutes, when the Spaniard excellently stopped Dominik Szoboszlai one-on-one. However, the second dangerous situation in front of Kepa's goal was the Reds' opener.

The Cherries captain, Lewis Cook, recklessly tackled Cody Gakpo in the box, and VAR had no dilemma - a penalty! Mohamed Salah was impeccable from the spot, bringing his team the lad at the half-hour mark.

Andoni Iraola's men managed to net the deserved equalizer over David Brooks, but his goal was disallowed due to Milos Kerkez's previous offside, so Arne Slot's squad was in front at the break.

The second half started the same way as the match itself - with Semenyo's colossal chance, and once again, Alisson was the winner of the duel with the winger.

However, this time, the Cherries did not retreat but went for the leveller, to which they were closest in the 70th minute. Marcus Tavernier unleashed a terrific effort from a distance and hit the post, the rebound came to Kluivert, who managed to miss the empty net from about six meters and shoot wide of the post!

And when you miss a massive chance like that, the giants like Liverpool will punish you! Five minutes after the Dutchman's miss, the Reds initiated a counterattack, Curtis Jones found Salah in the box, and the Egyptian perfectly found bottom-right corner of Kepa's goal, making it 2-0!

Liverpool noted a crucial victory at one of the most challenging away turfs this season and it's hard to say who can stop them from winning the title. At this point, they are nine steps in front of the second placed Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, which is a gigantic advantage. On the other hand, the Cherries are tied with Chelsea in the sixth spot and will continue their battle for the European qualifiers.
