Perfect evening for Simba and Nigerian clubs in CAFCC and CAFCL qualifiers

Both CAF Club competitions are on the Second Preliminary Round

Kenyan international Joash Onyango was trusted with a start as his Simba SC side claimed a massive 1-3 win over Primeiro de Agosto in the CAF Champions League qualifiers while his compatriot Ian Otieno collected a clean sheet after Zesco United's barren draw against Royal AM in the CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers.

Primeiro 1-3 Simba

Tanzanian giants Simba SC have one leg in the Group Stages of the CAF Champions League after a 3-1 away win over Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto.

Kenyan international Joash Onyango was handed a start and went on to play the entire game in the massive win away from home.

Clatous Chama set the tone for Simba in the ninth minute before Israel Patrick Mwenda doubled their lead in the 63rd minute.

Moses Phiri put the game beyond Primeiro in the 76th minute but the Angolan side grabbed a consolation goal in the 79th minute to hand themselves faint hopes ahead of the second leg.

Royal Leopards 1-1 Coton Sport

Cameroonian champions Coton Sport FC carried a 1-1 away draw heading into the second leg of the Africa premier club competition against Royal Leopards from Eswatini.

Souaibou Marou handed Coton Sport the perfect start to the game after breaking the deadlock in the third minute but Leopards pulled one goal back in the 33rd minute.

Vipers 0-0 TP Mazembe

Reigning Ugandan champions Vipers failed to capitalize on home advantage as they were held to a barren draw by DR Congo giants TP Mazembe.

With the draw, the Venoms need to upset the odds in the second leg in Lubumbashi to reach the lucrative group stages for the first time in history.

La Passe 0-7 Mamelodi Sundowns

2016 CAF Champions League winners, Mamelodi Sundowns are firmly on course to another customary Group Stage appearance following a 0-7 evisceration of La Passe from Seychelles. Harambee Stars defender Brian "Niang" Mandela did not feature in the match.

Gaston Sirino grabbed a brace before Grant Kekana, Mothobi Mvala, Aubrey Modiba, Sipho Mbule and Sphelele Mkhulise got their names on the scoresheet in the emphatic victory.

Monastir 0-1 Al Ahly

Record CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly claimed a massive 1-0 away win over Tunisian giants Monastir in Tunisia.

With the game seemingly headed for a barren draw, up stepped Mohamed Abdelmonem to score in the third minute of added time to hand Al Ahly the win.

Plateau United 2-1 Esperance

Nigerian outfit Plateau United pulled a massive upset after beating 2019 Champions League winners Esperance 2-1 at the New Jos Stadium, Nigeria.

Anice Badri opened the scoring for Esperance in the 27th minute before Ifeanyi Uba restored parity for Plateau to put them ahead in the second minute of first half added time in a goal that turned out to be the match-winner.

Rivers United 2-1 Wydad Casablanca

It was a perfect evening for Nigerian clubs in the Champions League qualifiers as River United claimed a huge scalp after beating reigning champions Wydad Casablanca 2-1 at home.

Bouly Sambou broke the deadlock for Wydad Casablanca but Rivers showed their resolve by coming from down to beat the Moroccan side courtesy of goals from Malachi Ohawuma and former Wazito forward Paul Acquah.

CAF Confederation Cup

Royal AM 0-0 Zesco

Kenyan international Ian Otieno bagged a clean sheet as his Zesco United registered a barren draw against South African side Royal AM.

Fellow Kenyan Vincent Oburu failed to make the traveling party after just recently coming off a long injury layoff.
