The Dutch midfielder seems capable of filling Kevin de Bruyne's shoes. At least, that's what he hinted at Molineux today

Since day one at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola has had his leaders on the pitch, almost assistants in a Manchester City shirt.

One of the most prominent names on that list was Kevin de Bruyne, who left the Cityzens in this transfer window, leaving such a hole in the team. Thankfully for the Sky Blues' fans, it seems that Pep has found a perfect successor for KDB - Tijjani Reijnders!

The 27-year-old Dutch midfielder, who joined Manchester City from AC Milan, shone in his Premier League debut on Saturday at Molineux, leading City to a statement 4-0 away win.

Reijnders showcased a unique set of skills, but also the confidence to be a true leader of his side.

We would even go so far as to say that we don't remember a Manchester City player who impacted more the team and the result on his debut for the club than Reijnders did. Only Sergio Aguero could stand neck-to-neck with the Dutch midfielder, as he also scored a goal and recorded an assist on his Man City EPL debut in 2011.

After quite a dull opening to the game in the first half an hour, Reijnders brilliantly chipped a through-ball for Rico Lewis, who found Erling Haaland on the far post for a routine tap-in and 1-0.

Just a few moments later and the visitors doubled the lead, this time through Reijnders himself. He slotted it into the far corner beyond the reach of Jose Sa, just to prove he could also be a serious scorer, just like KDB.

Finally, the former Rossonerri sealed his perfect performance with a lovely back cross to Haaland, for the Norwegian's brace around the hour mark.

Another recent signing, Rayan Cherki, proved this transfer window has been as good as it gets for the Cityzens. His powerful strike ended in the back of the Wolves' net for a statement 4-0 win.
