Despite having an early lead thanks to Mason Greenwood, Roberto De Zerbi's men allowed the rival a comeback, which cost them the first place in the league
Two thank-you letters could soon be sent from Parc des Princes. Paris Saint-Germain should send one to Lens' home ground, Stade Bollaert-Delelis, and the other to Benjamin Pavard.
Had it not been for the club from the North of France, the Saints would still have been trailing behind Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1. This way, the popular "Blood and Gold" brushed aside Roberto De Zerbi's crew at home (2-1), leapfrogged them on the league table, and helped PSG return to the top.

However, at the same time, the experienced defender and ex-Bayern Munich and Inter Milan player was the most responsible for his team's failure last night.
And no one saw that coming, especially after Mason Greenwood broke the deadlock 17 minutes into the game and scored his seventh league goal, putting L'OM in front. Yet, just like in most previous seasons, once their fans thought they were ready to end PSG's reign in French football, Marseille found the way to "kill themselves."
Last night, Pavard caused this "suicide." First, he conceded a penalty in the 23rd minute, which Odsonne Edouard sent home with a beautiful "panenka," levelling the score, and then, half an hour later, he netted an own goal, which turned out to be the winner for Lens.
Holy stinker from Pavard, gives away a pen and then goes on to score an Own Goal 💀

After five consecutive wins, the club from Stade Velodrome suffered its second straight defeat in all competitions, while Lens are unbeaten since September 14, when they lost to the Parisians on the road.
At the same time, this victory moved Pierre Sage's crew to the second Ligue 1 spot, just one point behind PSG, while Marseille are third, trailing to Lens by the same margin.
