The result leaves Zambia top of Group G on 9 points needing just a point from the remaining two matches to seal their spot in Ivory Coast.

Two Patson Daka goals from either half of the match helped Zambia inch closer to booking their ticket to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament set to be played in Ivory Coast as they claimed a crucial 0-2 win against Lesotho on Sunday evening to go top of Group H in the qualifiers for the upcoming competition.

Having overturned a 1-0 deficit in the first leg before going on to win 3-1 in front of their home crowd, the Chipololo were looking to seal all three points when they traveled to the Dobsonville Stadium in Johannesburg where Lesotho were forced to organize their match due to lack of a certified playing facility.

It only took fourteen minutes for Zambia to get the perfect start they sought as Daka found the back of the net to give his side a lead they would hold onto until the half time break.

In the second half, Lesotho tried to ring the changes in a bid to alter the scoreline as they made triple changes on the 52nd minute.

Despite managing to keep out the most of Zambia’s attacks after conceding, the home side were undone on the 69th minute by a fizzing Fashion Sakala low cross that was well read by Daka who had made an instinctive run that enabled him to tap the ball past the keeper who was slow to react.

That proved to be the result by the full time whistle as Avram Grant’s Zambia completed the group double over Lesotho within a span of three days.

The result leaves Zambia top of Group G on 9 points needing just a point from the remaining two matches to seal their spot in Ivory Coast.

Lesotho on the other hand are bottom of the pile having collected only a point from their four games.

Ivory Coast are second on 7 points while Comoros are third on 3 points.

Sierra Leone 0-2 Sao Tome and Principe

In the other game, Sierra Leone managed to get their first win in Group A as they defeated Sao Tome and Principe 0-2 at the Stade Adrar in Agadir.

First half goals from Abu Bakarr Samura and Alhassan Koroma got the job done Sierra Leone.
