Gor Mahia patron Eliud Owalo has disclosed that the record Kenyan Premier League champions have initiated talks with Kansai Plascon Kenya Limited, formerly known as Sadolin Paints, over a potential sponsorship deal.
The revelation comes barely two days after Owalo hinted that the club was exploring avenues to attract more sponsors, an initiative aimed at extending financial support beyond the senior men’s team to the youth and women’s sides, Gor Mahia Youth and Gor Mahia Queens.

Speaking while issuing tracksuits to both junior and ladies’ teams two days ago, on Saturday, 1 November, Owalo reiterated his commitment to transforming the club’s financial model into a sustainable business structure.
“We will reach out to more prospective sponsors to support the club in various areas not covered by the current sponsor. In the long term, Gor Mahia must operate as a business, just like global giants such as Arsenal and Manchester United.
We cannot be an exception, and that is the direction we are heading in, to build a strong economic and financial front for the club,” Owalo said.
Taking to his official Facebook page on Monday, 3 November, the former ICT Cabinet Secretary confirmed that he had held an inaugural meeting with the Plascon Kenya management to discuss possible partnership opportunities covering all club tiers.
Kansai Plascon Kenya Limited is part of the Kansai Paint Company Limited Group based in Japan.
The company specializes in the manufacturing and supply of paints and coatings for various applications, including decorative paints, automotive coatings, as well as protective and marine coatings.
“We discussed possible sponsorship for Gor Mahia FC, Gor Mahia Youth FC, and Gor Mahia Queens.
Private sector partnerships anchored on a re-engineered business model are the most feasible avenue for the sustainability of Kenya’s community-based soccer clubs,” wrote Owalo.
Should the talks materialize, Gor Mahia will secure a second major sponsorship in less than two seasons, following last year’s Ksh 240 million, three-year deal with a gaming firm.
The development marks another step in Owalo’s broader vision to commercialize and professionalize Gor Mahia’s operations, ensuring long-term financial stability for the country’s most successful football club.
