KCB FC head coach Patrick Odhiambo has revealed the catalyst to the team's impressive start to the FKF Premier League season.
The Bankers have been on an impressive start to the season so far, having to their name 14 points from a possible 18 and are yet to taste defeat this season.
After six rounds of matches, KCB who were finalists in last season's Mozzart Bet Cup are on top of the table and do not look like faltering if their performances are anything to go by.
Speaking after their goalless draw against defending champions Gor Mahia on Wednesday afternoon, the former Chemelil Sugar coach revealed that his team is motivated by their unbeaten run.
“That unbeaten run is what drives these guys. It gives us the morale to work hard. We are hoping it lasts longer because the day we will be defeated, we shall be deflated,” said Odhiambo.
KCB roped in Odhiambo during the off-season from Mozzart Bet-sponsored Kakamega Homeboyz after parting with Bernard Mwalala.
Odhiambo also acknowledged the place of teamwork in the results registered by his side.
“Teamwork is also very key in this unit. We work together and for each other which is evident in our games,” he added.
The former Sony Sugar coach went further to explain his tactics against Gor Mahia where they generally preferred to sit back and hit on the break.
“Counter-attacking is also part of football. It is just a strategy, it does not mean you are inferior. We actually had more open chances than them. We missed two clear chances,” he stated.
Additionally, the former Gor Mahia assistant coach was added to the list of coaches who have raised concerns about Dandora Stadium.
“The pitch is slippery as you can see, players kept on falling. It is detrimental to our game,” he said.
The next test for KCB’s unbeaten run will come on Saturday 26 October when they meet 12-time league champions Tusker FC.
