Two very interesting transfers in the Premier League
Chelsea continue to spend with no inhibitions. They spent over 400,000,000 euros on 11 reinforcements this summer and will not stop there. As things stand, the 12th signing will be Manchester City's young footballer Cole Palmer, and Fabrizio Romano reveals that the Blues will pay just under €53,000,000 with bonuses (£40,000,000 + £5,000,000) for his services.
When looking at the sales history of the Cityzens, it is concluded that Palmer will become the most expensive student of the City's academy. Previously, that epithet stood next to Shaun Wright-Phillips' name, who at one time was also sold to Chelsea for 31,500,000 euros. The adopted son of the legendary Ian Wright arrived at the club from Nottingham Forest at the age of 17, but passed the academy.
Palmer grew up in City, which he joined as an eight-year-old back in 2010. At the age of 18, he joined the first team, but unlike many young players, he did not go on loan from the Etihad. Having made 41 appearances so far, he was expected to get a bigger role under Pep Guardiola, especially after scoring goals in the Community Shield against Arsenal and in the European Super Cup against Sevilla. However, he was unsatisfied with his role in Manchester and Chelsea offered him a way out.
The Blues hired Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi, Nicolas Jackson, Leslie Ugochukwu, Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, Deivid Washington and the Brazilian Angelo this summer before Palmer, and with the reinforcement from City, the total amount for the latest signings will come out to almost 470,000,000 euros.
Talented Palmer will replace Calum Hudson Odoi, who should move to Nottingham Forest. One of the Blues' options to strengthen the competition on the wings was Ansu Fati from Barcelona, however, the Blues decided on a boy from City's school; in the meantime Tottenham got in touch with the young talent of the Blaugrana, but in the end the victory in the race for the Spaniard's signature was won by Brighton.
While Spurs were reconsidering, because their first desire is Brennan Johnson from Forest, the Seagulls sent an official loan offer and quickly convinced Barcelona to accept it. Fabrizio Romano reports that Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi played a key role in the whole story.
It is only a loan until the end of the season, and the English club will not have the buyout option and will cover most of the salary of the talented footballer. The two sides have reached a verbal agreement, and a flight has already been scheduled for Fati, who should arrive in England by the end of the day and present himself with a Brighton shirt.
The AMEX Stadium club earned 187,450,000 euros from player sales this summer, and spent 101,200,000 on signing Joao Pedro from Watford, Carlos Baleba from Lille, Bart Verbruggen from Anderlecht, Igor from Fiorentina and 18-year-old Romanian Adrian Mazila, while Mahmoud Dahoud and James Milner arrived as free agents. It is unknown whether the club from the far south of England will pay a certain amount to Barcelona for the loan.
