Getafe boss Jose Bordalas emerges as a leading candidate to take over at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace have begun planning for a post-Oliver Glasner era, and their search is taking them straight to La Liga. Getafe head coach Jose Bordalas has emerged as one of the leading candidates to replace the Austrian at Selhurst Park.

Glasner's contract is running down and the Palace boss has already informed the club he will not renew, with a move to a top Premier League side his next target after three impressive seasons in south London. With his exit looming, Palace - who are about to face KuPS in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday night - have accelerated their succession plans.

According to talkSPORT and Cadena SER, Bordalas is highly rated by Palace's hierarchy. The 61-year-old's reputation for building ultra-competitive teams on limited budgets has not gone unnoticed, and his intense, highly structured style is seen as a natural continuation of Palace's recent identity.

Currently in his second spell at Getafe, Bordalas remains settled in Spain, but the lure of the Premier League would be hard to ignore. His contract runs until June 2026, leaving the door open should Palace formalise their interest.

A move could also reunite Bordalas with Christantus Uche, the Nigerian forward whose career he helped reshape in Spain. Uche joined Palace on loan this summer with a €20m option to buy but has yet to make a real impact - a reunion could change that.

Under Glasner, Palace have transformed into one of the league's most recognisable sides: solid, aggressive and lethal on the counter. They sit fifth in the Premier League, just two points off the top four, and are competing in the Conference League after last season's FA Cup triumph over Manchester City.

With Glasner heading for the exit, Bordalas is emerging as a serious contender to keep Palace flying - and to export his no-nonsense football to England.
