The KCB marksman netted sixteen times to emerge as the most lethal player in front of goal.

KCB striker Derrick Otanga is elated after bagging his first ever FKF Premier League (FKF-PL) golden boot on Sunday afternoon.

The former Sony Sugar and Wazito man grabbed a brace on Sunday afternoon against Bidco United in Thika to take his tally for the season. He leapfrogged Kenya Police's Clifton Miheso who scored 15 goals.

Despite what has been an underwhelming season for the bankers, the striker walks home with the golden boot, his first in the top flight. Last season, Erick Kapaito, who has since moved to Ethiopia, bagged it after scoring 24 league goals.

Otanga has termed winning the golden boot a dream come true for him. He further thanked his teammates for the role they played in enabling him win the gong.

"I am happy, it is a dream come true for me. I have always wanted to win the golden boot and I am glad that I finally have one under my belt. Credit to my teammates for their help, I would not have achieved this without their help," he stated.

On next season's plans the striker did not want to talk much about the 2022/23 season whose kick off date remains unknown.

"We will see what happens next season," he said.
