One of Liverpool’s best players this season might still want to be at a different club?
According to his Hungarian national team coach, Dominik Szoboszlai's "one dream is to play for Real Madrid." For Liverpool supporters, those words from Marco Rossi will hardly be reassuring, especially given that Szoboszlai has been one of the standout performers under Arne Slot this season.
Rossi’s candid remarks about the midfielder, who remains tied to Anfield until 2028, are certain to spark concern on Merseyside. Marca quotes him saying: "Szoboszlai always had one dream: to play for Real Madrid. I don't know if he'll be able to take that step, because the decision depends on him and also on his club."

The Spanish outlet adds that "it is a confession born of closeness," suggesting that the insight comes from the strong bond between Rossi and Szoboszlai and is likely reliable. Liverpool invested £60million to bring Hungarian player from RB Leipzig two years ago, and he has since played a vital role in their Premier League-winning campaign.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold already moving to Real after allowing his contract to run down, and the club potentially facing the same scenario with Ibrahima Konate, the Reds will be cautious about Szoboszlai following a similar path. He has yet to commit to fresh terms at Anfield, and the closer he gets to the end of his deal, the more his value could drop.
Marca reports that Rossi didn’t dismiss the chance of Szoboszlai signing a new contract with Liverpool. "I absolutely don't rule out the possibility of him staying at Liverpool and renewing his contract there, especially because he's highly valued within the club," the coach added.
Szoboszlai has proved versatile for Slot, filling multiple roles—including an impressive stint at right-back this season.

His stunning free-kicks against Arsenal, Manchester City, and Marseille have been some of the few bright spots in a challenging campaign, and it’s clear Liverpool will be eager to secure his commitment on a new deal.
