The midfielder is hoping to feature in the next game against Tusker FC

After being hobbled off in the second half of the barren draw to Tusker FC, Gor Mahia midfielder Samuel Onyango has provided an injury update.

The former Ulinzi Stars midfielder picked up a hip injury after a collision with Kevin Monyi and was withdrawn in the 66th minute with Benson Omala replaced him.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Onyango revealed that he has been managing the injury since the beginning of the season but noted that he hopes not to miss a game with the club having a lean squad.

“I picked up an injury in the game against Tusker, it has been an injury that I have been carrying since the season began but it recurred again on Saturday.

It's a hip injury but hopefully, in a few days time I will be okay but I do not want to miss any game now because our squad is thin, I’ll see if I can resume training on Tuesday,” said Onyango.

With K’Ogalo currently serving a FIFA transfer embargo, the team has had few dependable players following a mass exit at the start of the campaign.

Onyango revealed that he will fully diagnose the injury at the end of the season as he opened up on how his injury came about.

“I had a collision with one of the Tusker players and when I fell he landed on me which made the injury worse and I could not continue.

When the season comes to an end I will go get checked up and get full treatment but for now I have to be there for the team,” added Onyango.
