The 2020/2021 season is the first time in the club's history that Bidco United is playing in the top tier league
Although dreaming the impossible is a big motivator in fueling sporting pursuits, Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia and veteran club captain Stephen Waruru are not overly ambitious when it comes to their team’s targets in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League this season.
After almost two decades in the second tier, this season is the first time in the club’s history that the Thika based club is taking part in the top tier after gaining promotion from the National Super league where they were placed second on the table under the guidance of Akhulia.
The head coach has revealed that being newbies, the club would only focus on staying in the league and not anything else.
“My target is to survive. I’m not thinking of winning the title or things like that. The first step is to survive so that we can assert ourselves in the league. As people and other teams get to know that we exist in the league, we will also know what it feels like to be in the top flight. After that we can now start building from there and become more ambitious,” the head coach stated.

Former Ulinzi Stars player Stephen Waruru, who is the current club captain at Bidco, also reiterated the players’ desire to stay afloat.
“As a team, we would just want to take part in the top league next season as well. That is what we have first set our eyes on as the players of the club,” he told Mozzart Sport.

Currently, the league debutants sit in 11th place on the log on 2 points, ten adrift of the relegation places. The club captain went ahead to state the main reason as to why the club has not struggled to adapt in the league.
“Being together for a long time has helped us as a club. Every player from the young ones to old ones have also gelled really well and playing their roles perfectly,” Waruru added.
