Next for The Bunyore Starlets is a crunch test against Zetech Sparks in Nairobi
Bunyore Starlets have had a great start to the new season, registering two wins from the opening two fixtures of the current campaign.
Formed in 2015 and gained promotion to the Kenya Women Premier League in the 2021/22 league season, the Luanda-based club has come short in competing at the highest level, and they are itching to ensure they complete the season with silverware to their names this term.
Exclusively speaking to Mozzart Sport, Bunyore tactician Timothy Ondeko has expressed his happiness with the team's performance and hopes to carry on with the performance till the end of the season as the former Kakamega Homeboyz assistant in command seeks his first silverware with the team
"I am happy and contented by the team's performance so far into the season. We have had a fair start, and I hope we can carry on with the fine form throughout the season." Stated Ondeko.
The experienced expert adds that this season is more competitive than last and believes mental strength will be a key factor for his players this season.
"The league has grown, and this time it's way more competitive than the last one. Last campaign, a lot of teams lacked mental strength towards the final stages, and I believe this contributed to most team’s shortfalls as the season culminated. With the good start, large members of the squad retained, quality additions to the squad, and the targets in sight, I believe with the right mental awareness we will be able to challenge for promotion at the end of the season," added Ondeko who is in his maiden season with the ladies.
Ondeko who is also debuting in the dugout in women's football, also points out that fan support will be a unifying factor for the team this season, having struggled for the better part of the previous campaigns but remaining satisfied with the transfer business the club conducted before the season kicked off.
"We had a couple of ins during the off-season transfer, and I must say I am pleased at how quickly they have settled into the team and added the needed punch to propel the team way better than last season. I am certain they will play an integral part in enhancing our desired season objectives together with the fans in the stadiums," concluded Ondeko.
