Slum boys are hosts to rejuvenated K'Ogalo in Wednesday afternoon league encounter.

Defending champions Gor Mahia will be gunning for their sixth successive league win when they play a wobbly Mathare United at the Ruaraka grounds on Wednesday.

Gor have bagged maximum points in their last five league rounds and have consequently gathered steam in their quest to their record twentieth crown as they trail league leaders Tusker by seven points.

Having watched Tusker drop points on Tuesday, Gor who had earlier been written off in the title race will head into the match hoping to enhance their chances of muscling for the ticket to return to the CAF Champions League.

Gor assistant coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo believes that they will register their tenth win of the season despite missing Tito Okello who is away with the South Sudan national team.

Pamzo who noted that their recent engagements in the Cup have left him with fatigued players but remained confident of pilling more miseries on Mathare.

“The morale in our camp is on another level following our Cup exploits and recent run the league. I expect positive results in the match but the boys have to be cautious as Mathare have nothing to lose. They have enjoyed a three-week rest unlike us whom we have played tough and back to back matches at the same time. We will only miss Okello who is away,” said the former Posta Rangers coach.

While Gor will be seeking to extend their superb run, Mathare will be hoping that lady luck will visit them and end their ten match winless run.

The club’s captain Chrispinus Oduor who is among the handful of players who will be available for selection after recovering from injury said the three-week break were enough to plot for Gor’s downfall.

“We have had sufficient time to rest and improve on our weak areas. It’s been long since we won a league game and this game presents us with the opportunity to quench the thirst. The three weeks have helped the players who were injured recover boosting the team in terms of depth,” said the former Kenyan international.

Statistics from the last seven meetings show that the ‘Slum Boys’ have won two with Gor savoring victory once and four matches ending evenly. Gor won the first leg 3-1 at the Kasarani Annex.
