Omar's Ionokos won 1-0 to extend their lead at the top to five points as they seek promotion
Kenyan international Abud Omar got full ninety minutes under his belt as his Ionokos side matched to a fifth consecutive win over Apollon Larissa in the Greek Super League 2. The win gave Ionokos a firm grip at the top of the table as they extended the gap between them and second placed Levadiakos to five points.
It was not to be an easy win though as a solitary goal from Dimitrios Kotsonis, who was making his return to the squad for the first time after missing four games, in the 20th minute was all the side needed to grind out the win. The victory meant that Omar’s team are undefeated in the last five games, a run that saw the team draw once before embarking on a four match winning streak.
Abud Omar has so far played a crucial part in the team’s impressive perfomances. Out of nineteen games played, Omar has featured fifteen times and chipping in with a further two goals from the left back position.
Overally Ionokos has only lost three games since their season started and with only four games left to play, Omar and his team are firm favourites to clinch the trophy at the end of the season as they seek promotion to the top tier Greek league.
