Olympique Marseille deny rumours of CR7 contacts ahead of the Nantes tie

PSG, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and now - save the best for last - Olympique Marseille.

That's the list of the clubs that apparently rejected an offer to sign a once-best player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo.

While the rumour of contact between the Marseille board and the player's agent had arisen on social networks, OM have "no intention" of bringing in the Portuguese forward.

Even a hashtag #RonaldOM was launched a few weeks ago on social networks, to try to raise awareness of the player and the Marseille leaders. According to French media, the hypothesis of his signing was even invited in some discussions, within the club, more out of curiosity than out of real sporting interest for the fivefold Ballon d'Or.

On Friday, a rumour launched on Twitter by an Italian journalist revived the machine, the latter claiming that there were contacts between the club and the player's agent Jorge Mendes.

At the risk of dampening the enthusiasm of some Marseille fans, things are nevertheless blatantly clear in the eyes of the club's management: OM have no intention of recruiting Cristiano Ronaldo.
